Business Structure
Comfort Zone is a family owned and operated business, founded in 1994 by CEO Jim Edwards. The company has a deliberate emphasis on family. With the dedication and commitment of family members, Comfort Zone believes a foundation is laid for the assurance of high quality services. Jim has more than 35 years of experience in the heating and air conditioning business. He is joined by older son Kevin, who currently leads sales and marketing and has more than 15 years of experience in service and installation, as well as sales, and younger son Korey, who has joined the company more recently, and provides service in heating and air conditioning repairs. Kevin's brother-in-law Samuel provides support as the lead installer, and cousin Dinora supports the office operations. Both Jim and his wife Bobbie, and Kevin and his wife Ana have made personal investments in the founding and ongoing operations of the company. The company has remained stable, even under times of recession in California, and has been gradually increasing personnel and gross revenues over the last decade.
FAQs
How do I know if I need a new system?
If you already own a central air conditioning system and it is inoperable, then a service call is definitely in order. Most units can be repaired at a relatively low cost. The decision to replace the unit should be based partially on the serviceman's recommendation keeping in mind that a new unit will be more efficient and less costly to operate. Our approach when advising a customer is "what would I do if it were my home and expense?", which is the easiest way to give sound, honest, advice.
What is a ton? Is that what the unit weighs?
The term "ton" can be confusing. It is actually a measure of the capacity of the AC unit. One ton indicates a one horse power compressor in a unit that will deliver 12,000 BTU's of cooling and deliver 400 cubic feet per minute of air. BTU is the measurement of heat that is provided by a furnace or removed by an air conditioner. The average home requires a 3 ton unit, and if a combination heat/cool package unit is the best approach, the unit will only weigh approximately 400 pounds.
Why are rates so high?
Many feel service rates are high, but take into consideration truck insurance, licensing fees, and fuel costs, which are all associated with being a licensed contractor. Legitimate business is a rare thing these days, and we are proud to be able to say that Comfort Zone is based on honesty, skill, and hard work.
Why can't I get an exact estimate over the phone?
Often we are able to provide a rough idea of the cost over the phone based on general information, although in order to suit you with the unique custom system you desire, an onsite viewing will be provided in order to meet the individual needs of every household or business environment.
What should be included in the estimate?
Clearly stated, product specifications-- make, model, along with the number of supply and return ducts, and/or registers to be provided, thermostat make, and model specifications. We often provide a choice of mechanical or digital models at no extra cost. Hidden items such as electrical wiring should be discussed and decided on prior to contractual biddings.
How can I find an honest contractor?
Any legitimate contractor will be actively licensed and bonded. Although all of the above are solid points, they cannot insure honesty. Our best endorsement would be delivered by the multitude of satisfied clients, which we have had the privilege of serving. We are consistently receiving accolades upon job completion. Character assessment will play a vital role, so trust your instincts, ask yourself if the estimator appeared to have your comfort as their primary goal, or did they seem more interested in providing you with costly, unnecessary extras as to enhance their own profits.
